BAMBA WASSOULOU GROOVE

From: Mali
On stage: Sat 15 Apr 00:30

Bamba Wassoulou Groove was founded by percussionist Bamba Dembélé, a former member of Mali's legendary Super Djata Band from the 1980s. It combines wizardly funk with Bambara pulsation in an album full of warmth and softness, embraced by magnificent riffs and lifted by Ousmane Diakité's generous singing. Bamba Wassoulou Groove approaches perfection in its register which is festive and dancing but without sacrificing its gentle melodic sound.

There is no doubt that audiences will catch the ‘Bambara fever'. Owing to the fact that they offer hellish beats, torrid funk, and outright rock'n'roll solos. All this with exactly three guitars working to create a genuine wall of sound that skillfully navigate between the sensual and the fiery, a skilled bassist, impassive yet very provocative drummer, and a passionate singer.

The sextet is a diabolical dance machine that immerses us in the excitement of the torrid nights of Bamako
